The Violet Skullcap: Our Crown Energy Center

“Visualize a violet skullcap sitting on top of your head. Expand the form of the cap and intensify the color. Feel the healing quality of violet surround you like a protective cloak against pain, discomfort, and suffering. As you begin to feel the energy of this color, take a deep breath to inhale its healing properties. Begin to reflect on your breath. As you breathe in, call in the joy that you deserve. As you breathe out exhale what is old, tired, and stale in your life. Keep this up for a few minutes. Reflect on all the joyful things around you: the stars at night, the moon in her beauty, the sun in its spendor. Know how healing the rain can be as it turns the leaves green. Feel the air around you, see the faces of people whom you love and enjoy. Keep your breathing focused on letting this joy into your life and releasing any negative influences. As you open your higher center, take a moment to give thanks for your life.” (Ambika Wauters, The Book of Chakras, p. 106)

The Third Eye or Brow Chakra houses the concept of the feminine face of the Divine. It is a reflection of the God.dess. Also known as The Shekhinah (Hebrew), it is that aspect of ourselves that teaches us how to be discerning, intuitive, imaginative and knowledgable. Zing Go the Strings of Your Heart Chakra

Located at the heart center, the fourth chakra, Anahata is at the middle of the seven energy centers. It is the connection between matter and spirit, uniting the lower chakras of matter and the upper chakras of spirit. The heart chakra is our source of love and connection! As for the “zing” element, the Heart Energy Center resonates to the musical note of “F”.

Anahata has to do with your relationship with others and yourself. A healthy heart energy center allows you to believe in your right to love. You will learn acceptance of yourself. What we can learn is to access feelings of divine unconditional love, forgiveness, compassion, understanding and balance. And what is the wonderful result? A feeling of connectedness with a group consciousness; a sense of oneness with life; acceptance; peace; openess; harmony; contentment…

The Warrior & The Servant…exploring the Solar Plexus Energy Center

A powerful reality is that the Solar Plexus Chakra rules every aspect of our personality and ego.  And as we are currently experiencing in this world, an unchecked ego is a frightening thing to behold and its karmic repercussions are far reaching.  So, in this moment, we focus on cleansing…balancing…and conditioning our Manipura Solar Plexus energy center.

Two archetypes which can help us envision our relationship with our solar plexus chakra are that of the Warrior and that of the Servant.  Check and see which archetype reflects you the most…most of the time…

The Warrior and The Servant (The Book of Chakras, Ambika Wauters, p.61; italics & bold, mine):

The warrior is an empowered person with a definitive sense of selfhood.  Warriors know who they are in themselves and in relation to the world.  Their sense of self is neither inflated nor weak.  They have the inner strength and resilience to see their dreams materialize into reality and the stamina to meet physical and emotional challenges.  They are able to fight the good fight for love, victory, and the glory of God.dess.

The servant is a person whose sense of personal identity is anchored in the external world, always seeking confirmation from others.  Servants work hard for others’ acknowledgment.  They sabotage themselves by giving their power to others to define who they are and what they need to do.  They lose energy trying to please others for the affirmation they are unable to give to themselves.

Orange, Is The Color for Sacral Energy Wellness…

“The Sacral Chakra controls our physical health and well-being. It is the chakra that focuses the life force into building a strong and viable immune system, and keeping the physical body functional and active. It controls our motion and our emotion, and is ruled by the water element, which is directly influenced by how we experience our emotions. When we retain our feelings, water is also retained in the body…” (from “The Sacral Chakra, Svadhisthana, My own sweet abode”)

The second energy center, our Sacral Chakra is my go to center for an energy burst. Among many helpful and interesting things, it governs physical force and vitality. I am a city walker. I love walking through the neighborhoods of Philadelphia in which I live and work. What we learn from the second energy center:

  • giving and receiving

  • affirming our sensing abilities and issues related to feelings

A Thank You To Yemoja

I believe in Self-Initiation.  Strongly.  I believe that as Womyn, the Power of Our Blood is the Power of Our Bond to Her and to One Another.  And so, at 6:36 this Friday morning, the Great Mother of the Waters, Yemoja sealed what has been a 17 year-long self driven initiation.  She entered the crown of my Head, dissolving and becoming One with me.  Respect to the Power of the Mothers!  She has sealed one Road and now with both feet planted firmly in Her waters and with Her cowrie shells in hand, I turn to face the beginning of a new Road…  Thank you Yemoja for your Asche!

As for the New Road?  Well, I’ve accepted the vows of a Lay Nun, (Sister Vernice…the Victory Bringer); as well as the walk of the Solitary Druid, where I am Awenydd…  And then there’s this:

While I live, I will meditate on bodhicitta;

This is what will give meaning to my life.

At the moment of death, I will meditate on bodhicitta;

It will help me to continue onward, on my way toward enlightenment.

When I am thriving and happy, I will meditate on bodhicitta;

It will enable me to use my prosperity to serve others

and avoid the pitfalls of pride, envy, and lack of respect.

When I face failure and sadness, I will meditate on bodhicitta;

It will prevent me from losing heart and losing hope.

So, all the time and in any situation;

In life, when death is near, in success or failure, in joy or sorrow,

Bodhicitta is something I cannot be without.

So, to all of you, who have borne witness, and accompanied me and will continue to accompany me on my singular journey towards Truth, Justice, Love and Enlightenment I thank you as well…  Let the Journey Continue!
